Yellow leaves, powdery mildew and drooping plants?
It’s a good time to feed and nourish the garden.
Your plants are tuckered out after a big summer-long party. We recommend giving them a big warm hug (in the form of food and micronutrients) before tucking them into bed for a nice long sleep.
Fertilisers for hungry plants:
Yellow leaves can be tricky to diagnose. Check that your plant is not waterlogged or dehydrated, and that there are no pests on the underside of the leaves. If your plant is not thriving even though you’ve given it water, mulch and a cosy spot to grow, it could be a sign of nutrient deficiency.
Plants, such as citrus, camellias, and daphnes, tend to show signs of hunger now, while plants, such as peonies, would appreciate a good feed so that they can push out new growth in spring. Be careful not to feed your plants too late in the month of May, as they’ll push out new leaves just as the cold weather sets in.

The winter months ahead can be a challenging time for plants, especially if they are already stressed. It’s important to fix problems, such as hydrophobic or waterlogged soil, now so your plants can concentrate on getting ready for spring.

Eradicate pests & diseases:
Critters are actively preparing for the winter months too, storing food and reproducing as quickly as they can. Sap-sucking insects, such as scale and aphids, may be slowing down but they are still around. If you see ants around your citrus, curry leaf plant, or daphnes, you most likely have scale. Check for aphids on the last of the autumn rosebuds, and make sure you water the soil instead of the leaves to reduce the chance of powdery mildew.
Colder nights also mean your houseplants require less watering. Make sure you let the first 2 inches dry out for most houseplants, to avoid pests, such as fungus gnats.
